Zen Internet wins Best Light Business Broadband

Date published: 07 March 2005

Rochdale-based Zen Internet, one of the UK's leading Internet Service Providers (ISP), announced that it has won the 'Best Light Business Broadband' category at the ISPA awards.  The Seventh Annual UK Internet Industry Awards, in association with Purple Sun and Webuser Magazine were announced on 24 February at a gala dinner in London at The Marriott Hotel.

The ISPA awards are unique, as they are awarded to people and organisations in the industry by their peers and reflect the broad nature of the service provider sector.  The 'Best Light Business Broadband' category is awarded to the ISP that provides the best 512k and above, but under 1MB broadband service for businesses.

On the reasons for Zen's win, an ISPA spokesperson said, "Zen's half-meg service meets the requirements of a SOHO (Small Office, Home Office) business. The minimum contract period of only one month, with no penalty for cancellation, gives customers flexibility in an often-turbulent business world. The judges felt that the range of features, and Zen's customer
service and support, meant that Zen 'stood out above the others'."

Richard Tang, proprietor and managing director of Zen Internet said, "So many businesses make up the majority of our customer base so I was extremely pleased that we won this award.  In 2005 we are investing more money and effort than ever into achieving our mission to provide the best ISP service in the UK - this mission continues to be the primary focus of our business and the thing that sets us apart from our competitors."

The Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA) was established in 1995 as a trade association to represent providers of Internet services in the UK. ISPA promotes competition, self-regulation and the development of the Internet industry.

The award marks a positive start to 2005 for Zen Internet, after a hugelysuccessful 2004, with numerous prestigious awards recognising its consistently high quality service as well as consistent business growth. Zen was voted 'Best Broadband ISP' in the PC Pro 10th Anniversary Awards.

The ISP was also listed 51st in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100, 39th in Fast Track 100 and were listed 15th in the Inner City 100 Index, appearing in the list for the third year running. Richard Tang was also named Business Person of the Year at the North Manchester Business Awards for Excellence and Achievement.
