I have lived in Middleton almost all of my life, after my father moved us here from Oldham as a child, I was educated locally first at Queen Elizabeth High (now St Anne's Academy) then Hopwood Hall FE College. I have always had a great sense of pride in Middleton, which is why I'm very proud to be announcing my candidacy for the local elections in the South Middleton ward on Thursday 3rd May.

I haven't been a Conservative for very long, but I have always enjoyed getting involved in the community. For many years I was a coach driver for my father's family business; Club Class Travel, which operated from here in Middleton, I have done school runs and trips for the elderly.

I am now my father's carer as he suffers with Parkinson's and terminal Leukemia. I also work part time stewarding at football matches, I have stewarded Rochdale, Oldham Athletic and Old Trafford. I also stewarded events such as the Manchester Half Marathon and the 2012 Olympic Games at Old Trafford.

I have also hosted my own Radio show on Roch Valley Hospital and Community Radio, because I enjoy speaking to local people and volunteering in the community. Please read below a few of my ideas for how we can make our community of Middleton a better place for us and future generations.

If elected to Council I will do everything within my power to oppose increases in Council taxes for the people of Middleton, because I believe the people know how to spend their own money better than the Council. To combat deficits in council budgets I will oppose any wasteful spending and increases in councillor allowances that I am asked to vote on.

I will also lobby to protect Middleton's greenbelt from development. We must do everything within our power to protect our precious greenspaces from being destroyed because once they're gone, they're gone.  This is why I will argue the case for the cutting of red tape to unlock some of the 250 acres of unused brownfield sites in Rochdale for development instead. We can't let our future generations down.

I'd also like to seek viable solutions for maintaining our roads, potholes have become a real issue in Middleton, the amount of stop/start construction work and road closures have become a real burden on commuters in Middleton travelling to and from their destinations, especially during rush hours. Trial runs have been made by Cumbria County Council to maintain their potholes and roads with recycled plastics, these tests have been rolled out across the county with great success, making their roads much more durable for the long term and finding use for plastics that would otherwise end up in a land fill site.

These innovative solutions have been dodged by Labour in the borough for many years and we're tired of being let down. So I'm asking politely, please get out and vote for change in South Middleton on 3rd May and allow me to represent Middleton's interests on the Council not the other way around.

If you would like to find out anything more please feel free to contact me via email and I will get back to you as soon as possible:
