My name is Patricia Dale and I have the privilege to stand as Middleton South’s Labour candidate in May’s local election.

Having lived in the ward for over forty years, I believe I know the concerns which are important to the residents of Middleton.

Since 2010 your council has faced massive cuts from the Conservative Government amounting to over £150 million, nearly 50% of its budget.

Despite these savage cuts, Rochdale Council has worked tirelessly to safeguard frontline services and it continues to prioritise the improvement of our schools, making our borough cleaner and greener and attracting more businesses and jobs to the borough.

A key policy aspect has been to keep all libraries and Sure Start centres open.

Before retiring eighteen months ago, I was a Deputy Head Teacher in a primary school in north Manchester.

Having spent forty-four years teaching in schools in Rochdale and Manchester, I am passionate about ensuring our young people leave school fully prepared for the ever-changing world they will face.

Since retiring I have continued to support and teach young people.

Currently I am working as a volunteer counsellor for a children’s charity and I also teach English, as a volunteer, to a class of refugees in Moss Side.

I am a long-standing community campaigner.

I believe that the residents of South Middleton deserve to live in an environment which is safe, clean and attractive and one in which our public services are of the highest quality.

If you vote for me on 3 May, I will ensure that I work tirelessly to stand up for you as residents and to defend our town and public services.
