Welcome to the Rochdale Online Local Election Special 2018.
Once again we are inviting candidates to submit their election 'pitch'; that is, why they believe they should be a ward councillor and why you should vote for them on 3 May.
View a list of candidates and their pitch if they have submitted one.

The local council is responsible for a surprising number of services that you use and rely on every day, from housing to street lighting, education to pub licensing, parking to care for the elderly. That's why your vote can make a real difference.
Candidates should email their pitch and a profile photo to news@rochdaleonline.co.uk for inclusion on the site.

In the UK there are three different ways you can vote:
You can find out how to vote on The Electoral Commission web site: www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter
If you are planning to vote at a polling station you will need to show photographic ID.
Accepted ID includes a passport, driver’s licence, blue badge and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person’s bus pass. You can use expired ID if you’re still recognisable from the photo.
If you don't have an accepted form of photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate.
A full list of accepted ID and information on how to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is available here: www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id
You will not need ID to vote by post.
