Kingsway Park High School and Redwood School take part in the Greater Manchester Disability Games

Students from Kingsway Park High School and Redwood School represented Rochdale at the Greater Manchester Disability Games.

The event was held at Leigh Sports Village and was attended by students Amirah Ali, Aamina Mudassir, Billal Iqbal, Elliot White, Kurtis Larkin, Rayaan Majeed and Umar Iqbal from Kingsway Park High School. A group of six key-stage three students and five key-stage four students attended from Redwood School.

The students competed in events such as 100m spring, relay, long jump, triple jump, shot put and goal ball.

The students from Kingsway Park High School achieved the highest scores altogether on the day and were awarded with the Best Achievement trophy at the awards ceremony for their effort.

A representative from Kingsway Park High School said: “The students were an inspiration and a great example to the school and the town of Rochdale.”

From Redwood School, Lucy and Patrick participated in the running events and came second and third in the final respectively. The throwing activities resulted in a superb 12.7m tennis ball throw from Imran, followed by impressive throws from Daniels and Haider. During the jumping event Lucy achieved 43 speed jumps, closely followed by the rest of her group.

A representative from Redwood School said: “Well done to all who took part.”
