Dale accept Hogan bid

Date published: 09 January 2014

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that his club has had an offer accepted for Rochdale’s star striker Scott Hogan.

Whilst there has been no official confirmation from Rochdale so far, BBC Cambridgeshire Sport have reported that a fee was agreed but the move has been stalled as the player has failed to agree personal terms.

Hogan, who scored in The Dale’s FA Cup giant-killing of Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, returned to Spotland this summer having been released as a youngster.

The former Hyde forward is enjoying a fruitful campaign in the league this season, finding the net on 12 occasions in all competitions so far and Rochdale fans have given their thoughts on the rumoured transfer.

Jim Molyneux said “I don’t see why he would go now. He should finish a season in the football league playing first team football.”

Paul Smith Markl agreed, saying: “Nobody wants him to go.

“He has a lot to lose after working so hard to become a pro and he’d be silly to underestimate the influence of Keith Hill.”

Liam Jennings also believes that the Salford-born attacker should not leave the club.

He said: “Personally I think it’s very short-sighted by both the club and the player if he goes.”

If Dale keep him it increases our chances of progressing in the FA Cup and success in the league.”
