The 2014 Rochdale Hornets shirt will carry the logo of Joining Jack, the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy fighting charity set up by ex Wigan player Andy Johnson.

Andy's son Jack suffers from DMD and launched the Joining Jack charity to raise awareness and much needed funds to help find a cure for the fatal genetic disorder.

Rochdale Hornets will be working closely with Joining Jack over the 2014 season to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

2014 Squad Numbers Announced

The club has announced the 2014 player squad numbers.

Last years regular centres Dave Hull (23) and Danny Davies (16) step into number 3 and 4 respectively, with Alex Trumper (14) handed the number 12 jersey.

New signing James Dandy takes 23, at his request, with fellow new boys Sean Casey at 14 and Casey Mayberry at 19.

Ryan Bradley, chief executive, commented: "Squad numbers always cause a stir when they are announced, but at this early stage they don't mean a lot. They haven't been picked by Tol, so have no bearing on performance.

"We are still on the look out for a couple of extra players anyway. We offered terms to a few of the Fijians. Peni Botiki was one we were really interested in and offered terms to, along with Eloni, who has good links with Rochdale from his trip here a few years ago with Australia Fiji, but they both have young families and the move was too much for them. We are still in talks with three others, as well as a few other oversees players, so hopefully one of them will bear fruit.

"We won't and can't break the bank for players, we have a good offer and a good reputation with players and I'm sure we will be attractive for the right type of player.

"I spoke to Tol at training on Tuesday and he said that if the season started tommorow, he would have confidence the squad he has assembled would give any team a game. Add to that a few quality dual registration players and confidence rises again.

"It's going to be tough, but we aren't in it to just survive, we want to push on and cause a few shocks along the way, and I'm sure Tol and the boys want that as well."

A lot has been said about the hard work of the players, coaches and staff in 2013, but, as a members owned club, we owe as much to all of the 200 plus members who helped fund the club and steer us in the right direction", commented Ryan Bradley.

"The shirt fetaures the names of all of the corporate, platinum, gold, silver and bronze members in the quarters on the front, with the standard members featured on the back. It's only fitting that when the players run out onto the field next year they will bear the names of the membership they represent."
