A trip to the champions for Hornets season opener

Rochdale Hornets will start the 26 game Championship Campaign with a trip to current champions Sheffield Eagles, in a game which bares significant historical significance.

The fixture against the 2013 grand final winners at  Owlerton Stadium, on Sunday 16 February is  a repeat of their first ever game as a professional club, which was also played at Owlerton back in September 1984 when the Eagles won 29-10.

Ian Talbot will prepare his squad for the tough 2014 season ahead by playing three pre season friendlies.

The squad will have an early hit out away at Keighley on 12 January, before hosting partner club St Helen's on 2 February.

Hunslet Hawks, a fellow supporters owned club, will provide the final opposition on Sunday 9 February, again at Spotland.

Tickets for both the home games, priced at £10 adults, £5 concessions (over 65, students and forces personnell) and £1 for under 16s will be on sale shortly.

Admission to league games at Spotland Stadium this year is charged at £14 adults, £10 concessions (Over 65s, Student NUS, Serving armed forces) and £5 for juniors.

Early bird season tickets are on sale upto Christmas, charged at £125 adults, £85 concessions and just £25 for juniors for all 13 league clashes.
