Rochdale Hornets news

Date published: 22 November 2013

The 2014 home Rochdale Hornets replica shirts are available to pre order from today, with guaranteed delivery pre-Christmas.

This year’s shirt is made by local rugby kit making giant Kooga, and follows a similar design to the 1922 and 2013 home shirts.

Chief Executive Ryan Bradley commented: "We are delighted to be working with Kooga this year. They have a proven record of being able to deliver good quality kit on time. They are a local based company, entirely owned by JD Sports, and I’m looking forward to developing a long standing relationship after this initial first year."

On the design of the kit, chairman Mark Wynn added: "We want to develop a kit whereby we can be identified at first glance. The red, white, blue, stripes is unique, and it brought us luck in '22 and 2013 so, for the foreseeable, that is the brand we will stick with for the home kit, while having a little play around with the design of the away kit."

The 2014 away kit will be available in the New Year, ahead of the season kick off.

The shirts are priced at £45 each, with juniors sizes available at £35 each. If two shirts are purchased at the same time (either two home, or home and away) you save £5 per shirt.

Call into the shop to order, or phone/email 01706 648004 info@hornetsrugbyleague.com to reserve yours.

2013 Player Shirts

Two 2013 player issue away shirts are up for grabs.

The ‘Loyalists’, who sponsor Mike Ratu, and ‘OV’, who sponsor Warren Thompson, have both donated their shirts back to the club for auction to raise funds.

The shirts will be listed on eBay, with all of the money raised going into the ‘Kit Builder’ fund towards the first teams budget.

The first one up for grabs is Mike Ratu, and can be found at:

Hornets Ladies

The Hornets Ladies started their season with an 18-8 defeat against early pace setters Batley Bullets.

The Hornets stormed into an 8-0 lead with tries from Harriett Widdup and Hannah Prestwich.

Batley's superior match fitness shone through in the second half with three tries, one on the hooter, to take the game.

Player of the match was awarded by Hornets young second rower Armani Khalique, with the opposition choosing centre Harriet Widdup.

The ladies are at home again this Sunday, 2pm kick off at Firgrove, against York. The tea bar is open and admission is free.
