Dale sign from Molyneux on loan from Crewe

Date published: 22 November 2013

Lee Molyneux has signed on loan for Dale from Crewe Alexandra.

The 24-year-old has moved to Spotland from the League One side until January 6th.

Molyneux, who can play in a number of positions including winger and left-back, joined Crewe from Accrington Stanley in the summer of 2013.

Rochdale fans will remember Molyneux for his stunning double strike for Stanley against Dale at Spotland last season.

Hill commented: “He was a player that I was chasing in the summer and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to recruit that type of player when I was made aware of his availability. I know how much he wants to come, so it was a no brainer.

“It’s good to recruit players when we’re doing well and I think it’s a stimulus for the players that we’ve got and a stimulus for the player coming in.

“Lee is an exceptional technical player and he’ll fit right into the functional necessity of our team, either as a left sided player, a central player, a right sided player, a number 10 or a possible left back, so it’s one size fits all.

“Lee has been made aware that he will have to compete for his place. We were in no great need or rush to recruit, but having spoken to him last night he’s aware of our squad, our squad values and what we’ve established so far.”
