O'Connor on loan to Hyde
Date published: 22 November 2013
D’Arcy O’Connor has become the latest young Dale player to head out on loan.
The 18-year-old defender has joined up with the already on loan Reece Gray at Hyde FC, where he’ll stay until January, subject to the relevant clearance.
D’Arcy’s loan move comes a day after it was announced that Godwin Abadaki and Joel Logan had joined Southport on loan, also until the New Year.
Manager Keith Hill commented: “I feel as though it’s important for the three of them, along with Reece, to be getting valuable game experience.
“I’ll probably need the likes of Scott Tanser in the squad at this moment in time because of the games that we have coming up in the first team, but with respect to the other three players I’ve got more than enough cover if we were to get a series of injuries or suspensions.
“And for those three players, I think it’s integral. They haven’t played too much football, they haven’t really been involved in the first team squad, so I do feel as though it is important for them to understand what they have and for them to understand what they need to do to give themselves an opportunity of having a career at Rochdale Football Club, by playing real men's football."
