FA Cup: Torquay United 0 - 2 Rochdale

Date published: 10 November 2013

Late goals from Scott Hogan and Peter Vincenti put Rochdale into the second round of the FA Cup.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill made four changes from the team beaten at home by AFC Wimbledon last week, with Ashley Eastham, Peter Vincenti, Andrew Tutte and Scott Hogan all in the starting eleven.

Torquay keeper Martin Rice had to save efforts from Andrew Tutte and Matthew Lund as Dale dominated early on.

Dale broke the deadlock in the 86th minute when Hogan finished well from ten yards after a neat move down the right involving Tutte and Matt Done.

Hogan contributed again two minutes later then two minutes later Rice in the Torquay goal could only parry his shot straight to Vincenti who put the game beyond Torquay’s reach, scoring from close range with a shot that crashed in off the bar.

Dale manager Keith Hill said: "We deserved it. From the start to the end, I thought there was only one team that was going to win it.

"I'm really pleased that we're through to the next round. We should have had one or two more goals, but to win 2-0 away from home - I'm over the moon."
