Rugby League World Cup preview

Date published: 27 October 2013

A busy day is expected in Rochdale tomorrow (Monday 28 October) as an expected sell out crowd comes to Spotland for the Fiji versus Ireland Rugby League World Cup fixture.

Supporters are asked to buy tickets in advance, as of Sunday there are only around 100 tickets left.

Also, allow extra travel time as the car park at Spotland and nearby Oulder Hill are all booked up. Parking is available at nearby Rochdale Golf Club and at Hopwood Hall College.

Traffic enforcement officers from RMBC will be on patrol so do not park in the coned residential area.

A park and ride service will operate from the train station, and a 'March to the Match' will take place from the Flying Horse Pub- where there is lots of free parking after 3pm.

The Flying Horse will also be serving traditional Fijian and Irish food, as well as a speciality 'Ireland Goes Bati' real ale, and there will also be post match entertainment.

Bars and food kiosks inside the ground will be open when the turnstiles open at 6.30pm.

The stadium's official pre bar, Studds, will be open from five o clock and is accessible to all, it is located on the Pearl Street stand.

The Radcliffe Bar, next door to the stadium, is also open from 12 and will be serving food all day.

The pre match entertainment starts just after 6.30pm when the Rochdale Primary Schools festival, run by Rochdale Hornets, plays out its final match.

Dance, choirs, live music and interviews will build up the excitement ahead of kick off at 8pm.

Last minute purchases can be made in person from Spotland from 10am Monday, but supporters are advised to book online at rlwc2013.com or by calling 0844 847 2013 to avoid disappointment.
