Mason Andrews Smith shines for Mayfield Under 7s

Date published: 21 October 2013

Rochdale Mayfield's Year 3 schoolboys took the short journey to Oldham to face St Anne's and Wigan team, Hindley in a 'round robin' on Sunday 21 October.

The wet conditions couldn't dampen their spirits as they stepped up against some bigger opponents and displayed determined tackling and quality attack.

Tyler Kenwright scored two tries as he ran straight at the defence and carried a number of tacklers over the line with him.

Issac Reid copied that trick for his first try, and then showed his versatility with great footwork for his second.

Jamie Howe added a try with a side step and speed from half way.

Mason Andrews Smith also posted two tries in a Man-of-the-Match performance that included great tackling.

The top tackler award went to Tyler Kenwright, who time and time again brought down the Wigan and Oldham runners.

Mayfield's youngest face Culceth in their last game of the season on Sunday 27 October, at home with a 10:30am kick off.
