Rochdale skier secures another championship

Date published: 05 October 2013

Rochdale skier, eleven year old Daisi Daniels has added another championship to her belt by winning the British Indoor Ski Cross Championships, children under 14s Ski Cross category and under 12s Indoor SL category.

Daisi, who has been skiing since she was four years old, took part in the championships at Chill Factore in Manchester on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.

Daisi also competed in a competition the previous weekend (22 September) and was placed fourth in the British Indoor Duel Championships, Duel Female Moguls category, 3rd in the Overall Females Mogul’s category and second in the children's under 14s Moguls category.

Fiona Daniels, Daisi’s mum said: “The last two weekends have been fantastic, Daisi has done really well. Daisi is an Alpine Skier, but we thought it would be fun for her to try the Moguls, and she came second in her age category (under 14s) and she came third overall female, which was amazing.”

Daisi currently attends Beech House School where she is a member of the gymnastics team, cross country team,  athletics team and swimming team.

Head Teacher, Kevin Sartain said: “Congratulations go to Daisi Daniels who became the Indoor British Skiing U12 Champion.”

Daisi is due to head to Austria soon to train and take part in races. Daisi will be part of an academy which will liaise with Beech House School, who will send work out to her so she doesn’t miss out on anything.

Fiona added: “We are really pleased with her. She has an amazing life - we’re really envious of her.”
