Matty Done signs for Dale

Manager Keith Hill has bolstered his squad further ahead of the start of the new season by securing the services of former Dale player Matty Done.

The 24-year-old has signed a 12-month-deal with the club in a move which sees him re-united with Hill.

Done spent a season at Spotland working under Hill during the 2010/11 campaign before following Hill to Barnsley in the summer of 2011.

He will wear squad number 16 for the forthcoming season.

On securing Done's services, Hill commented: “I’m absolutely over the moon about the signing, it’s a superb signing for the football club.

“Myself and Matty have a recent history and he has a history with Rochdale Football Club. He had other options but we’ve struck a deal for him to play with Rochdale. He gives me so many options and I’m really pleased that he’s committed initially for one year. For me he’s a Championship player and I didn’t want to hold him to ransom with respect to the length of his contract so I had to be open-minded on that one.

“He’s got pace to burn, he’s really exciting as a player and it’s up to Matty and myself to re-establish him to what I believe is at least a Championship player.

“I would like to thank the Chairman and the Board of Directors for backing me in my pursuit of trying to assemble a squad that is capable of taking on League Two."
