Cricket: Norden make Middleton pay the price

Date published: 02 July 2013

For the second time in as many days, one man stood in Middleton's way of victory. This time it was Norden professional Michael Price as he made an unbeaten century and led Norden home with three deliveries left.

Batting first, Middleton made 240 for seven. Grant Jones fell one short of his maiden first team century as he was caught and bowled by Paul Morrell for 99.

Jones and Danny Core looked like they were taking the game away from Norden and setting a huge total, but a few quick wickets slowed the progress.

In reply, Michael Price dominated the Norden innings with a mix of elegant and powerful strokes. He found useful allies in Simon North (46) and Ollie Makin (27 not out) as they supported Price. It was Price and Makin that saw Norden home with three deliveries to spare.
