Andrew Kremner is looking forward to his first professional fight later this year.
Andrew, a former Hopwood Hall College student, is being coached by Bob Shannon. Mr Shannon used to deal with the now retired Ricky Hatton and wants his young fighter gain some support from the local area.
Andrew boxed as an amateur 27 times, including fights all over Europe. He is looking at emulating Ricky Hatton and having a professional career to match his achievements at amateur level.
Andrew has high hopes and told Rochdale Online: “My main aim at the moment is to be the first boxing champion to come from Delph, in the future I’d like to set up my own boxing gym.”
Andrew, who will be making his debut at light welterweight, says his time at Hopwood Hall College helped him in his career: “They helped me with all aspects of life as a boxer and helped to develop my style.
“If I hadn’t received the information on how to overcome injuries, I would have been forced to hang up my gloves.”
Bob Shannon added: “He could go on to repeat the success of Ricky Hatton but we want him to have his own unique style, we have high hopes for him.”
