Hornets ladies are buzzing!

Date published: 27 June 2013

The newly formed Rochdale Hornets Ladies team continues to go from strength to strength with 20 participants taking to the field so far.

The six week Sportivate sessions have been set up with an aim to introduce and re-introduce rugby league to ladies in the borough, which has had a strong tradition for producing high quality ladies rugby league teams in the past, with the view to establishing a team to play fixtures from late July.

Twenty ladies aged 16 and over attended the first two sessions with others ready to join in on the action. The ladies were keen to get stuck into the physical aspects of the game with requests for more tackle technique and opportunities to play coming in thick and fast.

A club spokesman said: "We are looking to recruit as many players as possible over the next five weeks with a view to creating a team to enter the winter league, if you fancy giving rugby league a try this is your opportunity."

Firgrove Playing Fields, Belfield Lane, Milnrow on Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm until 8.00pm or email terri.davey@hornetsrugbyleague.com for more information.
