Rounders in Rochdale

Date published: 13 June 2013

Rounders England has come together with partners in Greater Manchester to provide opportunities to play rounders in Rochdale.

The national governing body is looking to increase the number of people who regularly participate in the sport during 2013 and 2014.

Dan Newton, Development Director at Rounders England said: "The partnerships that have been formed in Greater Manchester are a great platform to ignite the passion for Rounders. Working through local organisations and agencies provides the opportunity to build on an existing understanding of what will work in their communities.

"With the summer and good weather now here, rounders is the perfect, fun activity for people looking for diversion."

The partnership is seeking to create a vibrant rounders community specifically targeting mums, students, workplace and young people, while catering for all levels of players who want to play regularly and then progress to local teams/leagues.

GreaterSport Development Manager, Craig Anthony said: “After working with Rounders England to identify delivery partners it’s exciting to see over £10,000 being spent in Greater Manchester to support the development of rounders.

"The national conference was a great day to celebrate  and enthuse all the delivery partners.”
