Bux bombards the 'Rakers

Date published: 12 June 2013

Littleborough were the visitors to Towncroft in Middleton on a glorious Saturday afternoon and they proved too strong for the home team.

Batting first, Middleton scored a below par 153 all out, Geeth Alwis top scoring with 31. Mo Bux was the chief destroyer, claiming five wickets for 47 runs.

Middleton knew they needed quick wickets, but John Henderson and Phil Sutcliffe opened the batting for Littleborough and put together a partnership of 114 runs before Sutcliffe was trapped leg before by Alwis, for 36. Two overs after, Henderson was again trapped LBW to Alwis.

Chris McDonnell and Clinton Perren saw their team home, as they knocked the runs off with seven overs to spare for the loss of two wickets.

Next weekend sees the First Eleven travel to Clifton on Saturday, with the Second Eleven playing the reverse fixture at Towncroft. On Sunday, the Second Eleven are in Burton Cup action, as they face Heywood at Towncroft, in what is sure to be an enthralling fixture.
