Spotland Stadium pitch renovation work starts

Date published: 03 June 2013

Work to prepare the Spotland pitch for the start of the 2013/14 football season is under way.

Contractors moved onto site early on this morning (Monday 3 June) to start a three day extensive overhaul of the playing surface.

The existing surface will firstly be removed to allow a clean bed, before the pitch is verti-drained. Fibre sand, which will keep the pitch knitted together when the new seed establishes, will then be incorporated into it.

You can check out the progress of the pitch over the next three days on Twitter by following @officiallydale. The club will be tweeting images of the work as contractors go through the different phases.
