Henderson commits future to Dale

Ian Henderson has signed a new two-year-deal, effective from 1 July.

Henderson has been at Spotland since the end of February following his departure from Colchester United and quickly established himself in Manager Keith Hill’s plans during the remainder of the 2012/13 campaign.

He made 12 appearances for Dale and netted three times for the side with his goals coming against Wycombe Wanderers, Exeter City and Fleetwood Town.

Assistant Manager Chris Beech told Dale's official website that he is delighted that the club has been able to secure Ian's services: “To get Ian on a two-year-deal is fantastic. What he brings to the football club in terms of his physicality, his running ability, his goal scoring attributes and his professionalism on a daily basis will only aid and help us a team. He is also a great mentor for the younger players who will be around the squad next season.

“I have no doubt that Ian had other options but Keith, myself and the rest of the staff work hard at building relationships with these players. Ian enjoyed his time here and I’m sure that has played a big part in his decision.”
