Mayfield match preview

Date published: 23 May 2013

Coaches Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth will have read the riot act to their squad this week after their collapse against Eccles last Thursday night. This week they face another huge local rival as Saddleworth make the short journey to the Mayfield Sports Centre for a Friday night game in the Hattons Solicitors Conference Division.

Saddleworth have only one win to their credit and went down heavily last weekend but this will mean nothing in this fixture as they try to kick start the season.

Mayfield will be looking to return to the rugby which they know they are capable of cutting out the penalties and improving their discipline.

They looked to have last week's game in their pocket until they allowed the concentration to drop and the penalties creep in. the effort was there of that there is no doubt and as long as they re- apply themselves they should prove too strong for Saddleworth.

Rob Kershaw is set to return after surgery and Calland and Butterworth face fitness tests before selection is finalised.

Match sponsor in the box with Ace Electrical is Keely Wilson and friends.

Fixture: Friday 24.05.13
NCL div 1 Mayfield v Saddleworth, ko 7.30
