Littleborough RUFC 14 - 5 St Edwards Old Boys

Littleborough won the Lancashire Plate final courtesy of a gritty second half performance in what was a scrappy game.

In a close first half, Littleborough just edged St Edward's and went into the half time break with a 7-5 lead. Adam Wayne scoring Boro's try with Chris Park converting. Sean Currie scored St Edward's try.

The second half, played out as the first half in persistent driving rain, saw Littleborough push forward more and put the St Edward's line under pressure and the reward came via a try from David Kearns, converted again by Chris Park.

Speaking to Rochdale Online in the dressing room after the game, Littleborough captain, Ben Irving, said: "Winning ugly is still a win.

"We are delighted to have won against a tough St Edward's side in difficult conditions.

"Third time we have been in the final and it was third time lucky.

"The win is dedicated to Brian Hurst."
