Four second year scholars have been offered professional contracts at Dale for next season.

Midfielder and Youth Team Captain Jamie Allen, winger Joel Logan, central defender Darcy O’Connor and left full back Scott Tanser were informed on Friday afternoon.

The quartet, who are all 18-years-old, have enjoyed a successful season with the Dale Youth Team, while Logan has also established himself in the first team squad.

Manager Keith Hill said: “They’re good players and I’ll give them an opportunity. They’ll train, they’ll play and they’ll develop, but there’s still a lot of learning to do and this summer is going to be a massive part of their development as they get ready for next season.

“I intend on these players being part of the first team environment and squad, and they’ll be nurtured by the staff, by the environment that we set and by the senior players.”

The Youth Team has enjoyed a successful season on the pitch after reaching the final of the LFA Youth Cup, the semi-final of the Youth Alliance Cup, as well as the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup. They also performed exceptionally well during their league campaign, losing just twice during the season.
