World cup hospitality sells out!

Date published: 25 April 2013

It has been a fantastic start to Rugby League World Cup hospitality sales at Spotland Stadium as all of the Gold Packages (hospitality boxes) are now fully sold out!

It is not every day that a World Sporting event comes to Rochdale and the response from businesses, groups and individuals has been phenomenal, with the once in a lifetime chance to witness a World Cup on your door step starts to grab peoples imagination.

Never fear as there are still some spaces left in the Silver Package (pre match dinner) but with high demand, you really do need to book early to avoid disappointment.

Rochdale Hornets have also today (Thursday 25 April) been appointed as Group Sales Executives for the World Cup Games at Spotland as well as the games in St Helens and Leigh. If there are any groups of people, clubs, pubs, workplaces etc. that want a great day out at a World Class Sporting event please do not hesitate to get in touch with the club via the office.

It will also be great to see Community Officer Terri Davey start back at the club on Monday. Terri has been on a yearlong sabbatical working for the NZRL in New Zealand and will return fresh and full of ideas, as Hornets look to engage new people in new ways, as well as support our flagship events such as the Rochdale International Tag Festival (18 May, Rochdale Rugby Union) and appearances at community events such as Milnrow and Norden Carnival, Co-Op fortnight etc.

We will continue the ‘new ways’ theme at our next pre match dining event against North Wales, on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Rather than the traditional, formal pre match carvery we have persuaded popular local restaurant Permits to provide a two course dinner to spice up the day (although not too spicy!) with league sponsor Kingston Press Cider providing complimentary bottles of cider to wash it all down with. We will chuck in your match ticket to the crunch, top of the table clash for a bargain £20 (£15 members).

What a way to spend your bank holiday Sunday!

Places are limited to strictly 100 and they are going fast, so please contact the office at your earliest opportunity to book your place!

It was great to see a bumper attendance at the Bradford Bulls game last week. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic and, on behalf of all of the players, coaching staff and board I would like to say a big thank you to all at Bradford Bulls for making the day really enjoyable. I would also like to thank match sponsors, Vicki at iTxt Limited for your support in what was a record attendance for the Co-Operatively owned Rochdale Hornets.

For those bemused by a few of referee Robert Hicks decisions will have the chance to fully put him to the sword, as he is on the panel at the Rochdale Hornets Golf Day question and answer panel.

The Rochdale Hornets Golf Day is confirmed for Tuesday 18 June at Manchester Golf Club, Middleton. 18 holes of Golf will be followed by an evening question and answer session with rugby league legends including Steve Prescott, Paul Sculthorpe as well as super league referee coach Ian Smith. Team and individual entry for the Golf is available, as well as ‘Evening only’ tickets for the non-golfers out there. Booking can be made online- check our website for further details.

I know Tol (Ian Talbot) is now focusing the lads on the upcoming away trip to South Wales. We will be travelling down the day before to ensure the players are in the best shape as we can afford no slip ups as we aim to get promoted.

The under 20s are back in action, also taking on South Wales at Mayfield on Saturday evening (5pm Kick Off), so all in all we have a busy weekend as the season kick into full swing.
