Skolars game rescheduled

The Rochdale Hornets Vs London Skolars Northern Rail Cup fixture, which succumbed to the inclement weather on Sunday, has been rescheduled.

The game will now take place on Monday 1 April (Easter Monday), 3.00pm kick off at Spotland Stadium.

With South Wales losing to Oldham at the weekend, Skolars' progress to the Northern Rail Bowl Final, but with the Challenge Cup tie against Hunslet Old Boys and the Kingston Press Championship One season on the horizon, Talbot’s men will not rest on there laurels.

Ian Talbot is without Mike Ratu (ankle), Jordan Case and Dayne Donoghue (knee) through injury and is set to rest Baines and Trumper.

Club captain Wayne English may also be rested following an eye injury at North Wales.
Talbot said: "We have had lads who have trained like lions over pre-season and they deserve there shot.

"I am not fielding a 'reserve' team, the team I put out will be the lads who deserve their shirt and I was always set to rotate in the Northern Rail Cup as we are still not certain on our strongest 17."

All previously issued tickets are still valid for the game. Admission prices are as standard (£12 adult, £8 concessions £5 children).

With the game now being played on a Bank Holiday, Hornets is a special family discount which can be purchased in advance from the club shop (including on the day of the game).

With every full price adult ticket purchased, we will give you one children's ticket free. Those purchasing family tickets will be able to watch the game from the comfort of the lounge, where there will be children's activities and a visit from Hercules.

Benji Gives Back

Hornets’ first teamer Benji Lloyd is set to pass on some of his skills to the town’s youngsters this half term, as he hosts two multi-sport activities days in association with local schools and rugby clubs.

The sessions will cater for any individual, boy or girl, within the ages of 5-12 with the aim fun multi-sport activities and games. The camps are split up over two weeks, the first week we are holding it from Tuesday 2 April to Thursday 4 April at Sandbrook Primary School and the second week is from Tuesday 9 April to Thursday 11 at Rochdale Cobras Rugby League Club in Milnrow.

All sessions run from 10am to 3pm and run at a cost of £6 for a single day, £15 for three days discounted price or £25 for all six sessions discounted price. The benefits of the camps are that each child that attends will get a free match ticket to Rochdale Hornets versus North Wales Crusaders on Sunday 5 May at Spotland Stadium.

Children will also get a goody bag, prizes and certificates.

This is a great chance for those who have never experienced Rugby League before to give it a go in a non contact, fun and inclusive way before maybe joining one of the towns amateur clubs.

For the experienced player, you have the opportunity to learn first hand from a professional rugby league player what it take to cut it at the top.
