Adam Howard has won the Under 17s English National Cross Country Championship.
Adam, who is a Level 2 Fitness Academy student at Hopwood Hall College, is delighted to have won the championship race, which follows his success at the under 15s championship two years ago.
Commenting on his win, Adam said: “I am really proud to have won this race title for the second time. It’s good to be fit again and back in the competition.
"Being a Fitness Academy student has really helped me understand my training better and has also improved my strength and endurance.
"I am now looking forward to the challenge of running in the older over 18s categories in the future and enrolling on to the Level 3 Fitness Academy next year to extend my knowledge and training.”
Centre Director for Sport and Public Services, Terry Morley, added: “We’re delighted to hear that Adam has won this event and that the College was able to support him by sponsoring him for his cost to enter the competition.
"We are certain Adam will go on to greater things and represent England and Great Britain in the future.”
