Mayfield 0 – 20 Blackbrook

Date published: 05 December 2012

In freezing conditions Mayfield entertained a young Blackbrook side at the Mayfield Sports Centre on Saturday.

The game finished 0 – 20 in the St Helens side favour although the score some what flattered them.

With three of their tries coming from kicks Mayfield had no answer to the guile of the Blackbrook stand off.

The forwards from both sides deserved a medal with neither set giving their opposite numbers an inch.

Andy Battersby once again gave an outstanding performance with Joe Q putting in some trademark bone crunching tackles.

Pick of the pack for Mayfield though was Craig White who stepped in at hooker and ran the show for the home side.

In the backs Dave Devlin, Luke Hartley and George Yewdale once again gave their all and were unlucky to be on the losing side.
