Manchester Golf Club captain's dinner

Date published: 30 November 2012

Manchester Golf Club captain Bernard Stone welcomed past captains, committee, council members and invited guests to the 2012 Captain's Dinner held in the club's Hopwood Suite.

This is a special year for the club, which was founded in 1882, as it is celebrating 100 years of play on the Hopwood course having moved from south of the city in 1912.

There has been a very busy calendar of events to celebrate the 100 years anniversary.

Highlights include The Centenary Ball and a week of centenary events in July which included the The Manchester Golf Club versus The Old Manchester Golf Club match.

Mr Stone was the outright winner of the Joshua Bury Trophy. The Joshua Bury Trophy was donated to celebrate 100 years of Old Manchester Golf Club, Whitefield, and presented in 1919 when Mr Bury was President.
