Robinsons to compete in British Superbike Championship
Date published: 01 November 2012
Robinsons of Rochdale will run two MV Agusta F4-RRs, with factory help and assistance from UK importer MotoGB, in the British Superbike Championship in 2013.
Robinsons manager Steve Rostron is optimistic that they can be competitive.
"The MSV-run BSB series is the best domestic series in the world, so it's little wonder that MV Agusta want the UK series to be the crucible in which their amazing updated F4-RR is tested against the best machines and riders from around the globe," he said.
"We are under no illusions as to the work ahead to ensure the machine's competitiveness in the heat of this intense competition, but with the backing of the factory and with some exciting future developments we hope to get the MV Agusta name back on the map in British racing.
"We intend to run a strong two-man team so we can develop the F4 into a true championship contender.
"Much of the infrastructure is already in place, as the team will feature race hospitality that will seat 50 people, a top-line team manager and two riders – all of whom are yet to be named."
MV Agusta last appeared in BSB in 2009, when STP-JHS Racing ran a F4-1000 for several rounds.
The company has run racing bikes almost from its foundation in 1945, with legendary riders such as John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Giacomo Agostini claiming 500cc world championship titles on its bikes.
