Mayfield Masters v Medway
Date published: 08 October 2012
In a game played with a fantastic spirit and a great deal of skill the honours were declared even when a Mayfield select side entertained the Medway Dragons as a curtain raiser to the main event on sat at the Mayfield Sports centre.
The Mayfield side was packed with stars, such as Paul O’Keefe, Bob ‘the Bucket’ Crossley, ‘Crazy’ Rob Wells and Simon ‘Hands like Feet’ Howe.
While the Dragons, after claiming they’d had a dodgy meal the night before, could only drag eleven of their players out of bed and had a couple of ‘on loan’ players in Curly Kershaw and Big Dean Hartley.
This was a great advert, it’s not known for what, but it was a great advert.
Both sides showed they’d lost nothing of their enthusiasm for the game as they probed and prodded looking for the opening.
Defences held firm for the most part, although there were one or two tries scored, but on the whole this was a good game of rugby played by a great bunch of blokes, even though some wag in the crowd likened it to an episode of Last Of The Summer Wine!
