Goals from Dele Adebola and Bobby Grant gave Dale their first away win since November 2011.
Dale were 2-0 up at half-time, thanks to Adebola's header and a neat finish from strike partner Grant.
Wimbledon's cause was not helped when Jack Midson was sent off for violent conduct on 24 minutes.
Luke Moore pulled one back for the Dons to create a nervy finish but Dale held on for their second league win of the season.
