Mayfield v Stanley Rangers
Saturday's game in the Hattons Conference Divison 1 sees Mayfield travel to face Stanningley.
On a high after last week's victory over Stanley Rangers, Mayfield will be looking for another win.
Last week saw a game of two halves as the first forty minutes was an error strewn affair with both sides guilty of school boy mistakes, Mayfield got it together in the second half and ran out comfortable winners.
The coaches are expecting more with senior players Ben Simpson, Todd O’Brien and Paul Brearley hoping to be returning to action. Recent games however have shown this is not always the case as, after three great wins with a number of the Alliance team deputising Mayfield then went on to lose at York with a near full squad last month. They will be hoping for better and have learned lessons from the last few weeks.
After a very poor second half performance saw Mayfield Alliance go down heavily at Chorley the lads will be looking to redeem themselves as they entertain Leyland Warriors at the Mayfield Sports Centre.
“This is a game the team are capable of winning and that is what they will be looking to do” says the coaching team of Derek Buckley and Leon Ashworth.
“There were plenty of positives last week despite the result and we have worked hard this week on keeping our structure for the whole game instead of just forty minutes.
"The lads have responded well and if they take that into this game we should be strong enough to take the points.
"Andy Lee is a doubt with a dead leg but Neil Connolly should be able to step in for him. Anthony Bamford is also struggling with a shoulder injury and will face a late fitness test. Apart from that there is a strong squad to select from."
