Mayfield meet Castleford Lock Lane

Date published: 15 August 2012

Mayfield will play hosts to Castleford Lock Lane at the Mayfield Sports Centre this afternoon (15 August).

After the bitterly disappointing defeat at York, Matt Calland and Sam Butterworth will be hoping they can put on a better display today. Butterworth said: “We want to finish in the top half of the table at least and to do that we need to win our home games. Last week was a blot on our copy book after the performances we have put in recently and we are looking to get back to winning against Lock Lane.

“They are a good side with a big rough pack but we have more players returning this week and they will make a difference. We are sorry to lose Jack Samson with a bad shoulder injury, we will miss him for sure, but we welcome back Si Moore from holiday and Sean Snape has trained this week. Both are quality players and welcome additions to the squad.”

In the Sponsors Zone this week with Ace Electrical are Keely Veronica Wilson and friends. Unique Sports sponsor the match ball.

After taking the points from Wigan St. Jude last week in a real nail-biter, the Alliance team make the short trip to Oldham to face fellow strugglers St  Anne's. Anne's are without a win this season, but that doesn’t mean a lot when Oldham and Rochdale sides meet each other.

The victory against Jude was an important one for Mayfield after an indifferent spell and it has galvanised a new spirit in the team, with excellent numbers at training this week and even a couple of new signings. There will be a few headaches for the coaching staff as they will pick what they view as the strongest team on the day. All players meet at the club at 12.30pm.

Fixtures

National Conference League Division 1 - Mayfield v Lock Lane (KO 2.30pm)
