Rochdale Hornets 34 - 6 North Wales Crusaders

Date published: 22 July 2012

Hornets cruised to an easy, if somewhat bruising, victory over North Wales Crusaders - the visitors frequently high with their tackles.

After a slow start, Bloomfield scored the first two tries for Hornets before a mistake by Crook gifted Crusaders their only try of the game, Sheen intercepting his pass and running half the length of the field to score - converted by Johnson.

Roper finished a superb move started by Middlehurst, who shrugged off a number of tackles, to give Hornets a 16-6 half time lead.

Second half was all Hornets and the visitors were constantly on the back foot.

Wayne English added two tries, Crook kicked a penalty and Leather finished off an already defeated Crusaders with a try in the corner.

The win keeps Hornets above Oldham in the table and narrows the gap to fourth place Whitehaven, next weeks' visitors to Spotland, to 3 points.
