Rochdale Mayfield review

Date published: 18 July 2012

After the bitter disappointment of losing at Milford last week Mayfield are looking to get their season back on track as they make the long journey up the M6 to face Cumbrian side Millom in the National Conferrence Division One.

Millom come into the game fresh from a confidence boosting victory over Castleford Lock Lane.

Mayfield coach Sam Butterworth knows the Cumbrians strong point is winning home games, the distance being a real problem for teams travelling up from this area. That said Butterworth and fellow coach Matt Calland are confident that if their team follows up on the improvements made in last week's defeat they will pose a real threat to the opposition.

Sam Butterworth said: “We played some fantastic rugby at Milford, it’s a shame the referee spoiled the game, he allowed so many high shots and deliberate attacks to the head that we lost two influential players with neck injuries and this eventually cost us the game.

“We will struggle a little this week with players on holiday and suspensions but we think we have enough in the tank to trouble Millom."

Fixtures:
National Conferrence Division One: Millom v Mayfield KO 2.30
