Twenty20 Cricket Challenge
Hornets first ever T20 Cricket Challenge proved to be a big success, despite the weather over 200 people attended and a great time was had by all.
For the record the players ran out winners by 164 runs to the supporters’ teams 106. Dale Bloomfield was the star performer for the Hornets players and former Hornets reserve team player Allen Osbaldeston being the best of the supporters.
During the tea break the crowd was entertained by a cracking game of Junior Rugby League between the Rochdale Cobras and Littleborough Wolves. With some of the players taking part being as young as 5 years old, it was incredible the skill levels on show and how they all played with a smile on their faces.
Although at this age group the score doesn't really matter, it was fitting that each side scored three well taken tries.
The T20 Challenge now looks like being an annual event after the success of this year’s event.
Wembley Trip
Hornets’ next event is our trip to Wembley on August the 25 when we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the greatest moment in Hornets history.
90 years ago Hornets captain Jack Bennett lifted the famous old trophy after Hornets defeated Hull FC in the Challenge Cup Final.
To mark this milestone in Hornets history the club is running this special trip.
The trip is priced at only £49 person which includes match ticket, breakfast and return coach fare.
Seats are selling really well and are on a first come first served basis. To book your seat call the Hornets office on 01706 648004 or email nicola.webster@hornetsrugbyleague.com
