Wardle Warriors raise money for Cancer Research
The Olympic torch paid Wardle Warriors Junior Football Club a visit to raise funds for Cancer Research on Tuesday 3 July.
Parents of the children made small donations for their child to have their picture taken with the torch, which in total raised £200 for the charity in just one hour.
Members from all the teams were present at this fantastic event.
Jared Sudworth, manager of under nines blues, said: “I am extremely proud of the money we raised for this great cause.”
Mr Sudworth was hoping to raise awareness of the Wardle Warriors and particularly to recruit new under 13s players for the upcoming season. Players train on Monday nights at Dearnley Park playing fields in Littleborough.
Mr Sudworth said: “Anyone interested should come along on a Monday or go to the website to sign up, and a committee member will be in touch.”
