Festival fun in the sun

Date published: 09 July 2012

Mayfield Rugby League under 7s travelled to their first festival of the summer where the sun was shining for them.

The Mustangs took on four teams from the St Helens and Widnes area - coming away with the pride of great performances and the fair play trophy.

There are no winners or losers at this entry level of Rugby League, but Mayfield certainly had fun in the sun as they scored tries through the outstanding Ben Metcalfe, Bradley Schofield, Harvey Hall and Ben Wilkinson.

The try scorers were well supported in defence and attack by Morgan Pearson, Henry Crichton-Allen, Jamie Howe, Sonny Joyce, Vinny Wainwright and the Mayfield Mustangs player of the tournament Issac Reid, who tackled and ran himself to a standstill in a non-stop display.

Training continues through the summer and is free of charge and open to all 11 am until 12.00 noon at Mayfield's Castleton base on Keswick Street. Contact Simon on 07920865106 for details.
