Coleman secures two new additions

Date published: 02 July 2012

Manager John Coleman has secured two more new additions as he continues to re-build his squad ahead of the new campaign.

Kevin McIntyre and Joe Rafferty have agreed 1-year-deals with the club.

Left footed McIntyre, who spent last season at Accrington Stanley, can play either in full back position or in midfield. The move to Rochdale sees the 34-year-old re-united with his former boss.

McIntyre began his career at Tranmere Rovers before spending time at Doncaster and Chester. He went on to make over 250 appearances for Maccelsfield Town and Shrewsbury, before joining Accrington Stanley last summer following his release from the Shrews.

Joe Rafferty joins McIntyre in agreeing a move to Spotland. The 18 year old, who spent time on trial with Dale towards the end of last season, is a product of the Liverpool Youth Academy and skippered the U18 side during the last campaign.

Rafferty, who can play at either right back or in the centre of defence, featured for Dale's reserve side in the Lancashire Senior Cup tie against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road in April.

McIntryre and Rafferty are signings number six and seven for Coleman with Rhys Bennett, Peter Cavanagh, George Donnelly, Josh Lillis and Brian Barry-Murphy all previous agreeing deals with the club.

Welcome to Spotland, Kevin and Joe!
