Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC
Date published: 27 June 2012
Mayfield are hoping to get back to winning ways as Milford Marlins visit the Mayfield Sports Centre.
Milford secured a convincing victory over their hosts earlier in the season and Mayfield will be hoping to reverse that result. While Mayfield were going down to a controversial defeat at Hunslet last week, Milford also suffered defeat at the hands of Stanninley so both teams will be out to score a victory.
Mayfield hope to welcome back several players this afternoon, including two players who have been on international duty, Rob Kershaw, Ireland and Simon Moore, England. On the down side, they have lost Paul Lane who suffered a knee dislocation last week.
Coach Matt Calland said: “Whatever the side is we can be sure that they will give 100%.
"We were very unlucky last week with five players missing and we still maintain that Sean Snape scored a legitimate try, which would have won us the game and lifted us up the table.
“That said, we will not dwell on what could have been. We will just go out to beat Milford. We had an off day at Milford and did not adjust to the team changes we’d been forced into. Add to that the bus braking down as we set off for the game and you maybe see why our mind set was not quite right.
“With Mark Biggins leading the way in the forwards and Paul Brearley and Jack Samson in the back line we are confident we can restart our push for the play off places.”
Sponsors for the game in the Zone with Ace Electrical are Adele Butterworth and friends, accompanied by Brent Andrews and the Mustangs parents, along with match ball sponsors, unique sports.
Mayfield's Alliance side have a tough fixture away at Halton Farnworth. Halton are sitting top of the division at the moment but are currently thought to be carrying a number of injury problems. Lee Durrant’s young side have as yet failed to impress, however they are improving week by week. This will be a chance to show the coach what they have got.
Fixtures: 30.06.12.
Nat con div 1: Mayfield v Milford. Ko 2.30
NWML div 2: Halton v Mayfield. Ko 2.30.
