Twenty/20 Cricket Challenge, Hornets players v Hornets supporters at Milnrow Cricket Club on Sunday the 8 of July
Olympic Torch
This Saturday (23 June) sees the once-in-a-lifetime event of the Olympic Torch on our doorstep! The Torch is due to travel through Rochdale at approximately 1:56pm, but there are a variety of events taking place throughout the town to celebrate this historic day.
At the home of the Hornets, Spotland Stadium, there will be volunteers handing out freebies, plus a visit from Hercules, to witness the Torch make its journey into the town centre down Sandy Lane.
Meanwhile, at the Town Hall, there will be a Hornets stall promoting the club in the town, with lots of information about the history of the club and membership details, plus we will be promoting upcoming Hornets events and the Fiji v Ireland fixture in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
Also in the town centre, there will be a Tug of War between various teams, before representatives from Fiji and Ireland take part to advertise the Rugby League World Cup fixture.
There will be lots to see and do on the day, and we hope to see as many of you down there as possible!
U23s v Fiji UK
Also on Saturday, Hornets U23s take on a team of Fiji UK representatives in their latest fixture. The match will take place at Kingsway Sports Centre; kick off 6:00pm. Entry to the match is £3 for Adults, and FREE for under 16s. The post match presentation will be taking place at the Flying Horse Hotel in the town centre.
Everyone at Hornets would like to thank Ben Boothman, who is providing the post match food and also putting up some of the Fiji UK players for the night, without his help the match would not be taking place, thank you Ben!
Oldham @ Whitebank
The Hornets’ First Team returns to action this weekend after a two week break. They will be making the short journey across to Whitebank to take on our local rivals Oldham. With both teams battling for promotion to the Co-operative Championship, it promises to be a fantastic fixture with more than local bragging rights at stake. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm, with admission prices £12 for Adults, £10 for Concessions and £4 for children under 16, with transfers to seating an extra £2. This is a massive fixture in terms of promotion for both sides, so please go and support the Hornets in their quest for the double over Oldham!
Good Luck Phil!
Everyone at Rochdale Hornets would like to wish Phil Wood the best of luck in his new job, which sadly means he has to retire from playing rugby. We would like to thank Phil for his hard work and contributions over the last few seasons, and wish him all the best for the future.
