Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC - Fixture Review
Date published: 20 June 2012
Mayfield have another huge game thisweekend as they travel to Leeds, where they face fourth placed Hunslet Warriors.
Hunslet took the spoils 10 – 24 in the opening game of the season; but, Mayfield have come an awful long way since then. Last week’s victory over, top of the table, Dudley Hill portrayed this.
Hunslet are currently having an injury crisis and could be missing a couple of key players.
Mayfield coaches Sam Butterworth and Matt Calland also face problems, with Si Moore in France with the Eagles touring side, Taurean Sheehan out with a broken ankle and Ben Simpson struggling with an Achilles problem.
Calland said: “These are three in-form players and we will miss them on the field today. There is a chance Simpson will make it, but all we can do is to wait and see.
"Last week we played to our potential, especially in the first half with an eighty per cent completion rate. We are looking to try and replicate that at Hunslet and if we do, we could pick up another two points.”
“We are playing with confidence but we are also playing with class and flair, and that is a tough combination for any team to play against. We go to Hunslet looking to carry on where we left off, winning.”
The Mayfield Alliance side have a home fixture against fellow strugglers Chorley Panthers. Chorley has an identical league standing to Mayfield’s, so a close game is on the cards.
Mayfield went down to Ince Rose Bridge last week after a brawl brought a premature end to the game, while Chorley was hammered by Bold.
Lee Durrant’s side have failed to impress so far this season, but it is only a matter of time before they click as a team and start putting some winning results on the table.
Fixtures

NWML Div 2 Mayfield v Chorley ko 2.30
