Roca Juniors presentation evening
Roca Juniors, a community-based club which plies its trade in the Sunday Rochdale and District League, held its presentation evening on Sunday 20 May at a packed Deeplish Community Centre.
The club promotes community cohesion, integration, tolerance, and diversity through football. This is reflected through the current make-up of the team, which consists of players from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds and communities.
The event was attended by Simon Danczuk, local MP for Rochdale, along with Councillors Farooq, Shefali Begum, Iftikhar Ahmed, Skakeel Ahmed and Councillor Zaman.
Aftab Hussain, manager of Roca Juniors thanked club members and politicians for attending the event. He went on to make special reference to club sponsors Naz Kebab House, SFA, TJ Refrigeration and Whitestone Solicitors, thanking them for their continued support.
To conclude, he further commented that these types of events are particularly important in the light of the recent negative publicity Rochdale has been receiving, and can only help towards building bridges and bringing communities together.
Roca Juniors is on the look-out for new players for the coming season, with players of all backgrounds and abilities welcome to the training sessions. For further information contact Aftab on 07969 646 392.
