Werneth v Milnrow
Date published: 21 May 2012
Milnrow made it four league wins in a row on Saturday as Babar Naeem took 7 wickets for 24 runs as they beat Werneth by 51 runs at The Coppice.
In a game with many comparisons to last week's win over Clifton, Milnrow bowled out their opposition for 77 runs after batting first and posting a modest total of 128.
With runs proving difficult to come by, Milnrow were indebted to contributions from Alex Bartley (28), Babar Naeem (28) and Ali Muzaffer (30) as they struggled against Werneth's bowling attack. Matt Wilson took 4-21 and Joe Taylor 3-23.
Werneth were hoping for a solid start in their reply but soon slipped to 26-3. The home side's hopes lay with professional Hasnain Abbas (33), but he became one of Naeem's 7 scalps and his wicket signalled the end of Werneth's hopes of overhauling Milnrow's first innings score. Naeem ran through the tail as the visitors collected 5 points to remain within touching distance at the top of the league table.
