First summer signing at Dale

Manager John Coleman has secured his first summer signing.

Striker George Donnelly has today put pen to paper on a two year deal.

The 23 year old makes the move to Spotland from Macclesfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

The Liverpool born frontman joined the Silkmen from Fleetwood Town on an initial month long loan in September last year before making the move on a permanent basis in January. He made 32 appearances in all competitions for Macclesfield, scoring seven goals.

Donnelly first attracted attention while playing for Skelmersdale United where he netted 36 times in 45 games.

John Coleman said: "I'm delighted to have landed George. I've been tracking him for a long time and to secure his signature so early in the close season is fantastic.

"He's not 24 until the end of the month so he is still relatively young and has lots of potential. He'll fit in well here and will be a real asset to the club, I'm really looking forward to working with him."
