Dale manager accepts responsibility

Date published: 13 April 2012

Rochdale manager John Coleman has accepted responsibility for Dale's now inevitable relegation to League Two. Whilst it is still mathematically possible for Dale to stay up, the reality is it would take a miracle and a bizarre set of results in the games remaining.

Coleman told BBC Radio Manchester: "In the initial two weeks when I came in, I thought we had more than enough to stay up.

"That's why I won't be pointing the finger at anyone else. If we go down, it's my team that's gone down.

"Everyone who knows me and (assistant manager) Jimmy Bell knows how passionate we are about professional football.

"It might take until the summer until I get players who reflect that. Once I get players who reflect that, we'll see how good a manager I am."

Dale play Exeter at Spotland tomorrow (Saturday 14 April).
