Mayfield - Easter fixtures

Rochdale Mayfield's National Conference Team take the short trip to Oldham to face traditional rivals St Anne’s away on Friday (12 noon kick off) in a Hattons Solicitors Division 1 clash.

St Anne’s are still looking for that first win, but they will still be smarting from the defeat Mayfield inflicted on them a few weeks ago in the Oldham Standard Cup semi final.

The Cup final itself is up on Easter Monday, again in Oldham at Keb Lane, Bardsley (11.00am kick off), with the opponents being Premier Division Saddleworth.

Open age coaches Matt Calland, Sam Butterworth and Leon Ashworth will select a team from those available following the Alliance team clash with Westhoughton on Saturday at Mayfield, kick off 2.30pm.

Saturday also sees a NW Entry League fixture take place between Rochdale Cobras A team and Bury Broncos A team. Cobras will be looking for revenge as the Broncos stole victory last time out but, with no first team fixture for either club, experienced players from both clubs senior teams will add to the intensity.

Also on Friday, at 10.30am, Mayfield, Cobras and Ashton Bears will take to the field in the Coca Cola Cubs festival, as a curtain raiser to the Hornets Vs Oldham Championship 1 derby fixture.

Then, on Easter Sunday, the Boroughs only ladies team, Littleborough Hillside, take to the field in the Womens Rugby League Association Challenge Cup Final against league champions Castleford Panthers.

Both sides have a host of experienced players some who have represented their country and will want to make their mark over the eighty minutes and to add extra spice it is a ‘War of the Roses’ clash as well which will add to the passion of whether the ‘Red Rose’ or ‘White Rose’will come out victors.

The final takes place at Mayfield Sports Centre, with the Challenge Cup Plate final (York Vs Huddersfield Ladies) starting the days action at 2pm.
